What a fantastic walk up Caerphilly mountain with Milo, Harley and Poppadom 💚 We practiced recall, Milo did some beautiful loose leash walking, Harley enjoyed being around other dogs and Poppadom only screamed at one person!

You may see just a normal spaniel, just seeing a spaniel! But I see a Barney who has spent months struggling while we tried to make him feel better :(
It is finally starting to work! With a full sedated groom to get rid of all the Mattes, and the correct pain medication, he finally is able to start doing spaniel behaviours 💚💚💚

Look at Honey go! She is learning that moving away from dogs is a safe and positive option 💚

We believe that while honey was used for breeding, before she was rescued by @dogstrust_cardiff and her wonderful forever home, she was forced into alot of unpleasent interactions with other dogs. Because she believes that being near a dog will mean she HAS to Interact with them, she became reactive to keep them away.

But with the help of her owners and the stooge dog Salmon 🍣, she is slowly realising that she is safe, that she can choose to disengage, and that we won't let any unwanted dogs bother her ever again 💚

I have the absolute honour of working with Honey and her guardians!

She is already improving in her reactivity journey (because she is the smartest, prettiest, bravest girl!) and I'm so excited to help team Honey grow and improve together 💚

Why does Kiki wear a muzzle?

Because 3 years ago, when she first joined our home, she was reactive and aggressive to humans and dogs!

After 3 years of gentle, kind and focused training, she is now able to happily and joyfully meet new people. She can greet new dogs, ignore the ones she doesn't like, and play well with the ones that match her play style!

But even with how far she has come, there is no harm in playing it safe and popping her muzzle on! She is a big tough looking bully breed mix, and they are often judged harsher than other breeds.

As her owner and guardian, it's my responsibility to keep her safe in this world, and a muzzle is one way that I do that 💚

The best kind of dog training, is the training that looks boring! Freddie was an absolute star and has made amazing progress towards being calm, relaxed and safe around sheep and horses!

The new legislation makes it even more important to ensure that your dog is safe around livestock. Livestock worrying occurs when a dog you own, or are in charge of chases, attacks, or causes distress to livestock on agricultural land. And that can Include excessive barking!

His name was Albert and he changed my life.

On the 3rd of October, 2020, we adopted Albert from Rescue remedies. He was afraid, nervous, and although we didn't know it then, he was uncomfortable and in pain. He had repeatedly experienced sharpei fever, a hereditary condition that leaves the body inflammed, as well as damaging kidney each time it happens.

We brought him home and loved him.

If love was enough Albert would never have died. He would be happy and healthy and growing old and grey.

But no matter how hard we loved him, we couldn't undo the damage that had already been done and the lack of care that had been put Into his breeding.

On the 14th of April, 2022, Alberts kidneys gave up. He had gone through sharpei fever too many times and his body was tired.

So we loved his as hard as we could. So hard that our hearts must have grown to make space for him. We loved him so much we let him go and he was euthanised on the 15th of April 2022.

We had him for 1.5 years. He was only 6.

And now my heart,that feels like it grew to contain how hard I loved him, feels empty, even after 4 years without him.

So I turn to the dogs that need help.

He is the reason I will always strive to learn more about dogs in all the ways I canm

I don't have Albert any more to love harder. So I will love others and pour the care that I gave him into helping as many dogs as I can reach.

I have a story to tell you about a very special dog.

So many people have the goal to be able to take their dog to a coffee shop for a nice relaxing coffee ☕

But it's so difficult! 🥴 It's loud! 📢 There are so many smells! 👃So many people! 👭 And it takes humans aaaaaaggggges to drink coffee when all your dog wants it to get up and go! 🐩

So start small, get your coffee to go, and make it a positive and fun experience 🌟

A pupcup (as demonstrated by salmon 🐟) is the perfect way to keep a dog busy, entertained and happy for those short first visits 🤍🩷

So many people have the goal to be able to take their dog to a coffee shop for a nice relaxing coffee ☕

But it's so difficult! 🥴 It's loud! 📢 There are so many smells! 👃So many people! 👭 And it takes humans aaaaaaggggges to drink coffee when all your dog wants it to get up and go! 🐩

All dogs deserve friends, even reactive ones. Friendship in dogs doesn't always mean running and playing together, sometimes it's sniffing the same tree, watching the same squirrel or even just walking in the same direction and ignoring each other.

On the other end of the leash the humans get to practice training in a safe environment, with other owners who understand the struggles and with a proffesional to give advice, support an security!
